
We are sad to report that Dr. Meheroo Jussawalla, East–West Center Emeritus Fellow, passed away on July 29, 2012. Dr. Jussawalla Meheroo was a pioneer and world–renowned scholar of information and communication technology economics and an affiliate of our graduate programs for many years. She was among the first to relate economics with communication, demonstrating how communication technologies help economic development. She had a remarkable history, including being India's first female Ph.D. recipient in economics during a time when women were discouraged from such pursuits. Dr. Jussawalla will be remembered for her academic brilliance and courage and her profound influence on generations of scholars.
