IV. Reserving Studio Facilities

  1. Studio facilities or editing suites may be reserved during designated blocks, Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM for students currently enrolled in a media-oriented production course.
  2. Additional studio facility time or editing time may be obtained on a first come, first serve basis through canceled sessions, no-show sessions after the 15-minute grace period, or un-reserved sessions as available.
  3. Students may be assigned a maximum time limit for facility reservations per day and/or per week by the Instructor or Media Lab Director as deemed appropriate or depending on facility demands.
  4. Students should be familiar with the appropriate facilities before reserving time through training session(s) by an Instructor or Media Lab Staff and/or through the appropriate certification process by appointment on a resource available basis.
  5. All reservations are to be made with the assistance of a Media Lab Staff member by signing up in the "Editing" reservation book.

IVa. Final Cut Pro Edit Suites

  1. The Final Cut Pro editing suites may be reserved for use in 1/2 hour blocks during the Media Lab’s hours, Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM.
  2. Reservation priority is held for the COM 331: Fundamentals of Visual Media production class and Jour 466 Advanced Broadcast News.
  3. Unless otherwise arranged, data files will be purged at the end of each project’s completion date.
  4. Data files may be purged more frequently depending upon system demands. Incorrectly saved and/or managed data files are subject to relocation or purging by the Media Lab Staff.

IVb. Studio Floor

  1. The Studio Floor may be reserved for use in 1-hour blocks between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday in accordance to the following reservation stipulations:

Production Meetings 2 students none
Camera Blocking 2 certified students none
Studio Lighting 3 certified students 2 days
Set/Stage Construction 4 certified students 2 days

IVc. Control Room

  1. The Control Room may be reserved for use in 1-hour blocks between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  2. The Control Room may be utilized in two capacities:
    • Control Room: used in unison with the studio floor, studio cameras, lighting board and grid, etc. to produce "live-to-tape" productions.
    • 3/4" On-line Edit Suite: used for 3/4" editing with dissolves, fades, CG's, graphics, etc

IVd. Orion/SE Character Generator

  1. The Orion/SE Character Generator (CG) may be reserved for use in 1-hour blocks between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  2. Time may be reserved in which to go through the self-running tutorial program on the Orion/SE Character Generator (CG).
  3. Reservation priority is held for COM 431: Video Production Lab I class.

IVe. Control Room Graphics Workstation

  1. The Control Room Graphics Workstation may be reserved for use in 1-hour blocks between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  2. A user's manual containing tutorial lessons is available for use in the Media Lab.
  3. Reservation priority is held for COM 431: Video Production Lab I class.

IVf. Audio Edit Suite

ACCESS

  1. The Audio Edit Suite may be reserved by certified students for use in 1/2-hour blocks between 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  2. Certified users making reservations MUST be currently enrolled in one of the following courses (unless prior arrangements are made with the Media Lab Director):
    • COM 331: Fundamentals of Visual Media
    • COM 431: Video Production Lab I
    • COM 434: Video Production Lab II
    • COM 499/699: Special Problems (with written permission from the sponsoring Instructor and Media Lab Director)
    • JOUR 436: Radio Broadcast
    • JOUR 466: Advanced Broadcast News
    • Certified users not enrolled in the above classes can only make reservations upon receiving positive consent from the Media Lab Director.
  3. The standing policy is free access for all certified users; however, in times of high demand, a priority access policy will be implemented subject to the judgment of the Media Lab Director. Access is contingent upon current resource limitations.
  4. Unless otherwise arranged, all Digi 001 media files will be purged from memory on the last day of instruction.
