Academic Program

Communication (COM) encompasses all forms of human relationship, from dyads and small groups to formal organizations and society at large. Due to recent technological advances, telecommunication and information processing have also become fundamental to the understanding of an interdependent and information-intensive world.

The department faculty educate students in the social communication sciences. Faculty focus not only on interpersonal and intercultural communication, but on management and international communication, and telecommunication as well. Department resources include both a state-of-the-art media lab and a computer lab.

The department also offers an Internship Program for undergraduates.

Affiliations

Likewise, many international conferences dealing with Asian/Pacific affairs provide a stimulating environment for international and intercultural communication.

 

 

Crawford Hall is the current home of the School of Communications at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. George Hall (behind trees on left), Crawford Hall, Hawaii Hall (right), Dean Hall and Gartley Hall (neither are visible) make up what is referred to as The Quad.
